This sacred occasion marks the birth anniversary of the first Guru Sahib of Sikhism - Baba Nanak Ji. This sacred occasion is celebrated with much excitement and enthusiasm by the members of the Sikh community. Through his teachings, Guru Nanak Dev Ji preached equality, love, selfless service, and the worship of one God or Ek Omkar, and his teachings remain prevalent even today. This year, Guru Nanak Jayanti will be observed by the devotees on 5th November 2025.

Guru Nanak Jayanti 2025: Significance
Guru Nanak Dev Ji was born in 1469 AD in Nankana Sahib, now located in Pakistan. According to historical sources, Guru Nanak's father was Mehta Kalu Chand and his mother was Mata Tripta. Shri Guru Nanak Dev Ji founded Sikhism and preached equality, compassion, and righteous deeds. Just as Diwali is considered a highly important festival in Hinduism, Guru Nanak Jayanti is considered the most important religious festival in Sikhism. It is called Prakash Parv because the message of spiritual light and knowledge is spread on this day.

The Teachings Of Guru Nanak Dev Ji
Throughout his life, Guru Nanak Dev Ji showed the path of truth, love, equality, and service to society. His most famous teaching is "Ek Omkar, Satnam, Karta Purakh, Nirbhau, Nirvair." This means that God is one, His name is the only truth, He is the creator of the universe, He is fearless, and He holds no enmity towards any person or any creature.

Devotees additionally participate in Prabhat Pheri early in the morning. Additionally, special decorations are made in the Gurudwaras all across India and worldwide. Sikh devotees also carry out special parades in honour of Baba Nanak Dev Ji.
