Dev Diwali 2025: Significance

Dev Diwali is observed 15 days after the Diwali or Deepawali festivities. As stated before, Lord Shiva killed the demon Tripurasura on this day. It is believed that worshipping him on this day bestows desired results upon the devotee. Furthermore, this day is also associated with the appearance of the Matsya avatar of Vishnu, the creator of the universe.

According to religious beliefs, on the auspicious occasion of Dev Diwali, the gods descend to Kashi and celebrate Diwali. Therefore, lighting lamps on this day holds special significance. Puja Vidhi For Dev Diwali

- It is highly auspicious to take a sacred bath in holy rivers on the occasion of Dev Diwali as it is considered to bring fruitful results. If this is not possible, then the devotees must take a bath by adding Ganga Jal to the bathing water. After this, the devotees must sprinkle Ganga Jal in the house also.

- Devotees must also worship Lord Mahadev, Mata Lakshmi and Vishnu ji. They must light a lamp with pure desi ghee in front of the gods.

- Devotees must specifically worship Lord Shiva by offering bilwa leaves, flowers, sweets, fruits and Shami flowers.

- Additionally, the devotees must offer bananas to Vishnu ji. During the Pradosh Kaal, worshippers must light lamps in every corner of the house, from the main entrance to the other areas of the house to celebrate Dev Diwali.
