One of the most prominent religious figures in the Bengali Gaudiya Vaishnava tradition is Prabhu Nityananda, known as Nitai. He is regarded as a companion and follower of Chaitanya Mahaprabhu. Together, they are frequently referred to as Gaura-Nitai. Let us know significant details about this divine entity further.
Nityananda Trayodashi 2024: Prominence Of Prabhu Nityananda
- Nityananda Prabhu is considered the incarnation of Balarama in the Gaudiya-Vaishnava tradition, while Chaitanya is his eternal brother and companion, Krishna. His incarnation of the Supreme Personality of Godhead is regarded as the "most merciful" (a concept made popular by ISKCON founder A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Srila Prabhupada).

- Nityananda Prabhu's effulgence is compared to the majesty of a rising moon at dusk, and his clothes are reminiscent of a cluster of blue lotus blossoms. He is dreaded by the demoniac yet has a deep, beautiful voice that is always singing about the virtues of Shri Krishna. He also carries a crimson stick containing blessings for the devotees.
- In Ekachakra, in 1474, Nityananda was born to Pandit Hadai, a pious Bengali Brahmin, and his wife, Padmavati. From a young age, it was evident that he was devoted to Vaishnava hymns (bhajan) and had a tremendous gift for singing them. Nitai left home at the age of thirteen, accompanied by Lakshmipati Tirtha, a wandering renunciate (sannyasi).
