They are almost always worshipped together, and their idols are always seen side by side in temples. There is also a popular saying that if a devotee calls out to Lord Krishna during prayer, he may or may not listen, but if someone calls upon Radha, it becomes impossible for Krishna to ignore that prayer. That much love was between Radha and Lord Krishna,

Their names are always taken together, and they are worshipped together. But have you ever wondered why Radha is worshipped with Lord Krishna instead of Rukmini, even though she is believed to be an incarnation of Goddess Lakshmi? Various reasons and beliefs are associated with this question. Let's understand them in detail.

Why Is Radha Worshipped With Lord Krishna And Not Rukmini?

Ancient Hindu scriptures have always associated Radha's name with Lord Krishna while describing the highest form of divine love. On the other hand, Rukmini is recognised as Lord Krishna's devoted wife and his silent yet strong support system.

Surprisingly, many people are unaware that Rukmini was Lord Krishna's wife. Over the centuries, stories of Radha and Krishna's divine love, along with the teachings of saints and devotees, have deeply influenced Hindu worship. This is why Radha-Krishna idols are commonly placed in homes and temples as symbols of unconditional love and devotion.

According to Hindu beliefs, Radha is the embodiment of selfless love that knows no boundaries. Her pure devotion even drew Lord Krishna to play his divine flute, and that same devotion led her to the Raas Leela, where she completely forgot herself in divine love. Radha and Krishna were deeply devoted to one another, representing a relationship that is beyond worldly definitions.

According to some Hindu beliefs, when Lord Vishnu incarnated as Lord Krishna, Goddess Lakshmi manifested as Radha in her eternal spiritual form. While Krishna came to establish dharma and teach how good wins over evil, Radha became the symbol of pure devotion, unconditional love, compassion, and complete surrender to God.

For this reason, devotees worship Radha along with Lord Krishna as the highest form of bhakti (devotion). Rukmini's incarnation, on the other hand, represents the ideal queen and devoted wife who silently supported Lord Krishna in fulfilling his earthly responsibilities. Both roles were equally important, but they symbolise different aspects of the divine.

Why Did Lord Krishna Marry Rukmini Instead Of Radha?

The marriage of Lord Krishna and Rukmini holds great significance in Hindu tradition. Their union symbolises dharma, responsibility, and the ideal relationship between husband and wife. Rukmini's unwavering devotion, wisdom, and righteousness made her the perfect companion for Lord Krishna's earthly life as the king of Dwarka.

On the other hand, Krishna's relationship with Radha represents a spiritual union rather than a worldly one. Their love symbolises the eternal connection between the individual soul (jivatma) and the Supreme Soul (Paramatma).

Therefore, there is no comparison between Radha and Rukmini. Both are sacred in Hinduism for different reasons. While Radha and Lord Krishna temples are more common, many temples, especially in Dwarka, worship Lord Krishna with Rukmini as well, like Rukmini-Dwarkadhish.

Radha and Rukmini are not rivals but different expressions of the same divine feminine power.
