Mahabharata is one of the most sacred epics in Hinduism. It is filled with fascinating stories, and every character has its own unique value. However, there is one character who is not widely popular and did not participate in the war, yet is still believed to be the strongest warrior who could have ended the war in a minute. Who Was Barbarik?
Barbarik was the son of Ghatotkacha and Mauravi, and the grandson of Bhima, one of the five Pandavas. According to legends, Barbarik was a Yaksha cursed by Lord Brahma to be reborn as a human and was destined to die at the hands of Lord Krishna. He was a skilled warrior and an ardent devotee of Lord Shiva, who had gifted him three magical arrows.
These three arrows possessed special powers. The first arrow was believed to mark the things Barbarik wanted to destroy, the second marked the things he wanted to save, and the third arrow would simply kill the marked target. In short, Barbarik would have destroyed everything with his three arrows.

Barbarik And Krishna Interaction: When He Claimed To End The War In One Minute
When Barbarik learned about the Mahabharata war, he set out for the battlefield. Before going, he promised his mother that he would always fight for the weaker side.
On his way to the battlefield, he was stopped by a Brahmin who was actually Lord Krishna in disguise. He asked Barbarik how much time it would take for him to finish the war. To this, he replied, one minute, the only time required for his arrows to spot the enemy and destroy it.
Lord Krishna then realised that if Barbarik entered the war, then the Pandavas would not be able to win. Considering this, Lord Krishna made Barbarik realise that even if he joined the losing side, it would become powerful, and hence he would have to keep switching sides during the war, destroying both the armies.
Barbarik found himself in a dilemma as he couldn't break his promise to his mother. Lord Krishna then offered him a way out to uphold his vow of protecting dharma. He asked Barbarik to offer his head as a sacrifice before the war began.
Barbarik soon realised that Brahma was none other than Lord Krishna, so in return for his head, he asked him to bless him so that he could witness the war. Lord Krishna granted his wish and placed his head on top of a hill from where he could easily witness the war.
