Olympians Anantjeet Singh Naruka and Mairaj Ahmad Khan, along with Bhavtegh Singh, added another medal to India’s shooting tally by winning bronze in the men’s skeet team event at the Asian Games 2026 on Wednesday.
The Indian trio finished with a combined score of 346 to secure third place. Qatar won the gold medal, while Kuwait took silver.
The medal was India’s seventh in shooting at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games.
Anantjeet Books Spot In Individual Final
Anantjeet was the only Indian shooter from the team to make it to the individual final.
He finished the qualification round with 119 hits out of 125 and will compete for an individual medal later on Wednesday.
Mairaj finished with 116/125, while Bhavtegh managed 111/125. Both shooters missed out on a place in the individual final.
More Success For India In Women’s Skeet
India had already secured a medal in the women’s skeet team event earlier in the competition.
Parinaaz Dhaliwal, Razia Dhillon and Maheshwari Chauhan combined to win bronze for India.
Razia and Parinaaz also made it through to the women’s individual final. They finished seventh and eighth respectively in qualification.
Manu Bhaker Misses Out On Medal
It was not all good news for India in the 10m air pistol events.
Manu Bhaker came close to winning a medal in the women’s individual event but finished fifth in the final with a score of 181.1.
The Indian women’s team also missed the podium, finishing fourth in the team event with 1719-44x.
Vietnam took bronze despite also scoring 1719, finishing ahead on inner tens with 46x. China won gold with 1735-56x, while South Korea claimed silver with 1730-55x.
India’s Shooting Medal Rush
India’s shooting campaign at the Asian Games began with silver in the women’s 10m air rifle team event.
Elavenil Valarivan, Sonam Maskar and Vidarsa Vinod combined to finish second, with Elavenil later adding another silver in the individual event.
The following day, Himanshu Dhillon and Rudrankksh Patil won silver in the men’s 10m air rifle team event. Himanshu then claimed individual silver, while Rudrankksh took bronze.
With the men’s skeet team bronze, India now have seven shooting medals at the Games — four silver and three bronze.
At the 2022 Asian Games in Hangzhou, India produced its best-ever shooting performance at the continental event, winning 22 medals, including seven gold, nine silver and six bronze.
