Asian Games 2023 Medal Tally: India have added two gold and four bronze to their medal tally on the second day of the ongoing Asian Games 2023 in Hangzhou on Monday. Indian women's cricket team bagged the historic inaugural gold in the v ent by defeating Sri Lanka in the final by five wickets. With one gold and two bronze, shooting remained the highlight of the day followed by rowing's two bronze medals.
Shooting medals
India's men's 10m air rifle team consisting of Rudranksh Patil, Aishwary Pratap Singh Tomar and Divyansh Panwar bagged the first medal of the day and that too coveted gold. It was not only gold but also a world record with 1893.7 to finish on the top of the podium. Aishwary Pratap Singh Tomar won bronze in the individual men's 10m air rifle final.
India's Adarsh Singh, Anish Bhinwala, and Vijayveer Singh win bronze in the men's 25m rapid fire pistol event.
Rowing medals
The men's rowing final four team finished third with a time of 6:10.81 behind Uzbekistan and China, who took first and second place, respectively. In the rowing men's quadruple sculls final, the Indian team of Satnam Singh, Parminder Singh, Jakar Khan, and Sukhmeet Singh bagged the bronze medal.

Earlier on Sunday, Lekh Ram and Babu Lal Yadav clinched India's third medal in rowing with a bronze medal finish in Men's Pair Final while Arjun Lal Jat and Arvind Singh clinched the second silver medal. The trio of Ramita, Mehuli Ghosh and Ashi Chouksey opened India's medal tally by securing the silver medal in the women's 10m Air Rifle team event.
India aims to surpass their last edition's record of 70 medals in the ongoing Asian Games 2023 in Hangzhou, China. India have fielded 655 athletes for the event that was postponed last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The opening ceremony of the event took place on Saturday, September 23 with men's hockey team captain Harmanpreet Singh and boxer Lovlina Borgohain to be India's flag-bearers. In the 2018 Jakarta Asian Games, India finished eighth in the medals tally with 16 gold, 23 silver, and 31 bronze across disciplines. China topped the tally with 289 medals including 132 gold, 92 silver, and 65 bronze, followed by Japan with 205 medals and South Korea with 177.
World champion Neeraj Chopra, Indian men's and women's cricket and hockey teams, boxer Nikhat Zareen, and Mirabai Chanu are among the top contenders for the podium finish in the extravaganza sporting event.
