India added another shooting medal to its Asian Games 2026 tally after the women’s trap team secured a silver medal, while the men’s team had to settle for sixth place in a disappointing outing.
The Indian women’s trio of Neeru Dhanda, Aashima Ahlawat and Manisha Keer finished with a combined score of 328 to claim the silver, with China taking gold after producing a total of 346.
Neeru Dhanda was the standout performer for India, not only contributing to the team’s medal-winning effort but also qualifying for the individual final. She finished joint-top in qualification alongside Qatar’s Ray Bassil with a score of 118, which was also a Games qualification record.
India Women Secure Trap Team Silver
The Indian trio remained in medal contention throughout the team competition, with Neeru leading the way on 118 points. Aashima Ahlawat added 106, while Manisha Keer contributed 104 as India finished with 328.

China dominated the event to take the gold medal with 346. The Chinese team consisted of Liu Shanshan, Sun Yunong and Zhu Jingyu.
Kuwait completed the podium, with Alhawal Shahad, Abdulmalik Hajar and Alhawal Sarah combining for 325 to secure the bronze medal.
Neeru Dhanda Makes Individual Final
Neeru's performance also earned her a place in the women's individual final. The Indian shooter finished joint-top in qualification with Bassil after both recorded 118.
Her score was particularly significant as it established a Games qualification record, putting her among the leading contenders heading into the medal round.
However, the other two members of India's team could not make the individual final. Ahlawat finished 16th with 106, while Keer was 23rd with 104.
Men’s Team Finishes Sixth
The men's trap team endured a contrasting campaign, finishing sixth among the 10 participating teams. Shapath Bharadwaj, however, kept India's hopes alive by qualifying for the individual final.

The 24-year-old from Meerut secured the eighth and final qualification spot after prevailing in a shoot-off for the last two places. He edged Mohammed Al-Rumaihi to book his place in the medal round.
Bharadwaj, Kynan Chenai and Ahvar Rizvi combined for 339 points in the team event. Kuwait claimed gold with 355, while Qatar and Kazakhstan won silver and bronze with 349 and 348 respectively.
India's men's trap team had entered the competition as defending champions after Chenai, Zoravar Singh Sandhu and Prithviraj Tondaiman won gold at the previous Asian Games in China.
