Chess World Cup Final 2025: History would be scripted during the summit clash of the FIDE Women's World Cup 2025, where it would be an all-Indian clash between Divya Deshmukh and Koneru Humpy on Saturday. This is the first time that two Indian players will be locking horns with each other during a summit clash of an important tournament.

After a rest being given on Friday, the summit clash would include two classical matches, which would be held between Saturday and Sunday. If the scores are level, then a tiebreak would be held on Monday.

Deshmukh qualified for the final after defeating ex-world champion Zhongyi Tan during the semifinal by putting up a dominant performance in game 2.

Humpy, who is considered one of the country's best chess players, maintained her composure during the knockout matches. She dramatically defeated China's Tingjie Lei on Thursday by a 3-3 deadlock and thus clinched the blitz segment and qualified for the summit clash.

Initially, Humpy was forced into a tie-break during the pre-quarterfinals against Switzerland's Alexandra Kosteniuk, who is an ex-champion. She then dominated against Yuxin Song and had set the foundation of one of her best moments as she had defeated Lei during the five-minute games.

Due to her vast experience, Koneru Humpy is considered the favourite to win the match. But the young Divya Deshmukh has proved her worth and will aim to end her campaign on a good note.

Time Control for Classical games:

Every player will get 90 minutes for the first 40 moves and then half an hour for the rest of the match. A 30-second increment starts from the first move itself.

Tiebreak Format:

Two rapid games: 10 minutes + 10-second increment per move

If still tied: Two games of 5 minutes + 3-second increment

If still tied: Two blitz games of 3 minutes + 2-second increment

If still tied: Additional 3+2 blitz games will be played until a winner is determined.
