A heartwarming and inspiring journey of the 13-year-old girl with no arms and legs from Loidhar village in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kishtwar region went viral on social media.

Payal Nag was seen training under the guidance of coach Kuldeep Vedwan, who is also a coach of Paris Paralympic Bronze medalist Sheetal Devi. 

Sheetal Devi is a trailblazing athlete and is celebrated for her remarkable achievements in archery. Born with phocomelia, a rare condition that left her without arms, she has defied the odds to become the first Indian woman to win an archery medal, claiming bronze in the mixed team compound event at the 2024 Paris Paralympics with Rakesh Kumar.

Born without arms and legs, Payal has learned to shoot arrows with remarkable skill and precision.

Meanwhile, the 17-year-old Sheetal has fascinated the world with her unique actions and remarkable para-archery skills. Sheetal, born without arms due to a congenital disorder, has created a special process to contest at the highest level.

India's star para archer Sheetal failed to qualify for the quarterfinals as she lost to Chile's Mariana Zuniga by a whisker in the women's compound open 1/8 elimination match. Sheetal scored 137 points but Zuniga defeated her in a nail-biting thriller.

However, her journey in the Paris Paralympics is not over yet as she will compete in the Mixed Team Compound Open Quarterfinal alongside Rakesh Kumar on Monday to have a chance to finish on the podium on her debut at the Games.
