Ecuador Footballer Marco Angulo Dies At 22: In a heartbreaking piece of news, Ecuador's star footballer Marco Angulo passed away at the age of just 22 on Tuesday, November 12.
Angulo had suffered a tragic car accident a few weeks ago but succumbed to injuries as confirmed by his club and the Ecuadorian Football Federation (FEF).
He was in a critical condition for more than a month in a hospital in the Ecuadorian capital, until the tragic news of his death was announced.

During the early hours of October 7 this year, he collided at high speed with protective barriers on a highway in Quito.
The Liga de Quito midfielder, who was on loan from FC Cincinnati, was travelling in the vehicle with four other people.
With his passing, there are now three fatalities from the accident: Roberto Cabezas Simisterra, a defender for Independiente Juniors, and Víctor Charcopa Nazareno.
Post the accident, Angulo underwent a decompressive craniectomy to remove blood which relieved the pressure inside his head.
Apart from a concerning head injury, he also suffered a pulmonary contusion that required the placement of a chest tube. He was battling for his life but sadly died on Monday night as a result of his injuries.
Both the Ecuadorian Football Federation (FEF) and his club, Liga de Quito, have posted statements on their social media, expressing their "deepest sorrow" and "profound pain and sadness" over the heart-wrenching news.

"We regret to inform the passing of our beloved player Marco Angulo. We extend our heartfelt condolences to his family and loved ones. His departure is an irreplaceable loss that will leave an indelible mark on our hearts," lamented the Ecuadorian club.

"We stand in solidarity with his family, teammates, and loved ones, wishing them strength in this difficult time," added the Ecuadorian Football Federation.
Notably, Angulo had only made his professional debut in 2020 but has already been capped twice for Ecuador. His last appearance came in a 2-1 win over Australia in March 2023.
