BWF World Championship 2025: India's doubles pair of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty took their revenge for losing the Paris Olympics quarterfinals against Malaysia's Aaron Chia and Woo Yik Soh after beating them by 21-12, 21-19 during the last eight round of the ongoing tournament. After winning the match on Friday, the Indian duo has assured themselves of winning their second World championship medal.

They had won the Bronze medal way back in 2022 in Tokyo. At the same time, they lost to the same opponent during the semifinals back then.

This medal will also assure the country's streak of winning a medal during every edition of the ongoing tournament in 2011.

The Indian pair began on a flying start as they had won points off long, flat rallies and were leading by 11-6. This lead was too much for Soh and Chia as the Indian pair won the first game by 21-12.

The Indians played the second game aggressively and ensured that the Malaysians played from the back of the court. Soh was seen struggling as his backhand had hit the net a lot of times.

Soh and Chia did put up a fight post the mid-game interval. The Indian duo was leading by 17-11, and the Malaysian duo exchanged and scored points by playing close to the net. They thus bounced back, and the scores were leveled at 19-19.

The Indian pair bounced back brilliantly by scoring the important points and won just their fourth match against the Malaysians after playing in 15 matches against them.

They will lock horns with China's World Bo.11 Li Yiu and Bo Yang Chen during the semifinal on Saturday.
