US Open 2025: Yuki Bhambri and his partner Michael Venus pulled off a stunning upset at the US Open on Thursday (IST), outplaying 11th seeds Nikola Mektic and Rajeev Ram 6-3, 7-6, 6-3 in a thrilling quarterfinal clash to seal a semi-finals men's doubles berth.
Playing at Court 17 at the Big Apple, the Indo-Kiwi pair defeated the 11th seeds Rajeev Ram and Nikola Metkic in a hard-fought three-setter and now will take on Brits Neal Skupsky and Joe Salisbury in the semi-finals on Friday.
The quarterfinal clash against the legendary Rajeev Ram and his partner Nikola Metkic lived up to the expectations of lively New York fans as both pairs went toe-to-toe in a nail-biting affair.
Despite playing in Ram's backyard, Bhambri and Venus displayed incredible composure, defying the pressure of the big crowd at Stadium 17 and Ram's doubles expertise.
Lastly, their composure paid off as they outlived their opponents in a thrilling 2-hour and 37-minute battle.

Earlier, Bhambri and Michael Venus progressed into the quarterfinals with a compelling 6-1, 7-5 victory against Gonzalo Escobar and Miguel Angel Reyes-Varela, dominating the proceeding early on to wrap up the match in just 1 hour and 25 minutes.
At the age of 33, it marked a career breakthrough after years of battling injuries and transitioning from singles to doubles.
The result also spreads India's legacy in men's doubles, where the likes of Leander Paes, Mahesh Bhupathi and Rohan Bopanna have excelled in the past.
