Following in the footsteps of Twitter, Instagram-backed Threads will soon limit the visibility of postings for select users to combat spam attacks. Threads, which was just introduced, is developing several additional features such as the following feed, edit button, and others. This follows the announcement by Instagram CEO Adam Mosseri that the network will limit the appearance of postings.

Elon Musk Reaction To Threads Limiting Visibility

Elon Musk, who has experienced a lot of criticism for a similar action on Twitter to combat spam, commented on the tweet shortly after Instagram's leader revealed the new step for Threads. "Lmaooo Copy [cat]," he said in his tweet.

Musk was the first person who imposed rate limits, but it was temporary but at extreme levels. He has now relaxed the limits and Blue subscribers and verified accounts are able to see more tweets.

Threads Post Limits

In his tweet, Adam stated that the platform will implement new measures such as rate limits to combat spam attacks, but he did not disclose any formal information. The platform's rate restrictions and timing for the rollout are yet unknown.

Why Rate Limits?

Numerous users have reportedly voiced their dissatisfaction with the platform's growing number of comment spam. Even some of the users said that about 50% of the traction they receive comes from bots.

Company's Statement:

"Spam attacks have increased, so we're going to have to get stricter on things like rate limits, which will mean more unintentionally limiting active people (false positives)," Mosseri wrote in a thread on Threads. "Please let us know if you become entangled in those protections," he added.

Meanwhile, Meta Threads have got over 150 million sign-ups within a few days of launch. The platform has seen a dip in the number of daily active users and time spent on the application.
