iOS 18 is expected to roll out in September this year around the launch of the iPhone 16 series. However, fresh reports hint the company will keep the release of a set of significant features for iOS 18.1 or iOS 18.2, which typically follows between October and December. These rumours come after Bloomberg's Mark Gurman recently hinted Apple is slowing down the rollout of Apple Intelligence features in the OS.

Here is a better look at the features that will likely not arrive in the first stable version of iOS 18.

Categorisation In Mail

In his Power On newsletter, Gurman hinted new features in the Mail app will likely not arrive in the first stable version of iOS 18. These include the much-awaited categorisation feature showcased at the Worldwide Developers Conference. As per MacRumors, the categories will include Primary, Transactions, Updates and Promotions.

These will debut for eligible devices configured in English and an "All Mail" category will also be there. Moreover, a digest view may display emails from a business to grasp information better from that company.

Apple Intelligence and Revamped Siri

While some Apple Intelligence features may debut for iPhone 15 Pro and later devices in the first stable release, these may have a "preview" label. These will be released for US English users. Gurman hints that AI-improved Siri will likely be a part of the major tweaks in 2025. These may include contextual understanding, on-screen awareness and app controls.

Support for more languages and regions may arrive in 2025 for the voice assistant. As for iOS 18's version this year, a new Siri interface, natural voice conversations, improved knowledge and "Type to Siri" may be released in a subsequent update. Siri may also gain improvements in writing, notification prioritisation, summarisation, emoji generation and more. Swift Assist for Xcode as an AI-powered programming companion will likely not arrive in the first iOS 18 release.
