THE UPCOMING iPhone 15 series is making headlines long before its launch date. In that saga, the latest rumours claim the iPhone 15 Pro and the top-end model will come with solid-state buttons with customisable sensitivity, according to a source quoted in the MacRumors forum. The sensitivity levels could be adjustable via a toggle inside the settings.
Queries from iPhone users started to crop up soon after the information came to light. How the new buttons will function with accessories such as a phone cover or gloves was asked by the users. To which the source addressed that iOS 17 will have a toggle to adjust the sensitivity of the buttons so that it can cater to these use cases.
The same tipster, recently reported that an ultra-low energy chip would allow the volume, power and other buttons to function even if the phone is switched off or runs out of battery.
While the 'Pro' models are expected to enjoy the change, the vanilla model could continue to have the same buttons as the iPhone 14 lineup. Further, a new "Action" button might debut in place of the mute switch, the report adds.
While no official word on its functioning exists, it will likely have customisable options within the software to assign different actions to it. Plus, a single volume rocker in place of the two separate buttons in the existing series for volume adjustments will likely debut on the Pro model.
Meanwhile, other rumours surrounding the highly-anticipated iPhone 15 series include that the Pro Max model will have the thinnest bezels on an iPhone. The Pro models might debut with an A17 chip from the smartphone manufacturer. Speaking of materials, it is tipped to have a titanium frame. Finally, Apple is likely to switch to USB Type-C for charging, according to reports.
The upcoming iPhone 15 series will likely debut in September this year. Rumours of an Ultra model over an above the iPhone 15 Pro Max are also brewing. However, it is yet to be confirmed by reliable tipsters.
