Apple iPhones 15 series are now available in India for buying across several online and offline channels. And they pack several features that make them a worthy successor to the iPhone 14 series. One such feature is hidden within settings to let users gain insights on their battery health and restrict charging to 80 per cent.
Several users on X (formerly called Twitter) have posted their responses with a screengrab of the UI of the new iPhones. According to MacRumors, this is different from Optimized Battery Charging, which delays battery charging after 80 per cent. However, once the new feature is enabled, the charging will pause at 80 per cent.
iPhone 15 users can find the new option within the Settings inside the battery menu. It is available within 'Charging Optimization' inside the 'Health & Charging' sub-menu. Users can choose from three options: Optimized Battery Charging, 80% Limit and None.

The new option can help improve the battery health of an iPhone by restricting the phone from charging at full capacity. Also, Apple is now offering more stats about the battery within the About section in the settings.
The battery information includes the manufacturing date of the battery, date of first use and the number of cycle counts it has completed for a better idea about the battery's health. It will help users identify when is the right time to get their iPhone's battery replaced.
According to Apple, a typical battery can sustain up to 80 per cent capacity after 500 charging cycles in normal situations. Further, readers must note this is not the first time the tech giant plans to offer insights on the battery of new iPhones. The company already has a maximum charging capacity option in settings. While the new features are a part of the new iOS 17 update, the company is silent on whether they will be available on older iPhones.
