iPhone 16 News: Apple has scheduled 'It's Glowtime' event for September 9. The company will likely unveil the latest iPhone 16 models at the tech affair. While the iPhone 16 Pro and 16 Pro Max could offer a similar design as their predecessors, the iPhone 16 and 16 Plus may have a new vertical camera array on the rear. Plus, the handsets could ship with an improved chipset, Apple Intelligence features and more upgrades.

Apple iPhone 15 vs iPhone 16: What To Expect

Design: The iPhone 16 may offer a vertical camera array and an Action button compared to the diagonal setup and Mute switch on the current smartphones. The new smartphones could sport a graphene heatsink for better thermal efficiency, MacRumors reported.

Performance and Software: The iPhone 16 and 16 Plus may gain a new A18 chipset (compared to the A16 on the iPhone 15). Unlike the current non-Pro models, the handsets may support Apple Intelligence due to the improved Neural Engine and more memory. These may offer 8GB RAM over 6GB on the current models. It will likely run on iOS 18 compared to iOS 17 on the current iPhones.

Battery and Charging: Apple iPhone 16 models could use stacked battery tech for more energy density and longer lifespan. While the iPhone 16 may offer a 3,561mAh battery (a 6 per cent jump compared to the current model), the iPhone 16 Plus may offer a 4,006mAh battery (a 9 per cent drop). Plus, the upcoming phones may support 40W wired and 20W wireless charging (compared to 27W and 15W).

Cameras: Apple's 2024 vanilla and 'Plus' iPhone may house a 'Capture' button for improved photography and videography. It may have an enhanced ultrawide lens for better low-light results and gain macro support. Buyers can also expect Spatial Video recording support, thanks to the new vertical module.

Other Upgrades: iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus will likely have an improved OLED screen, which may be brighter and more efficient than iPhone 15 and 15 Plus. It may offer Wi-Fi 6E (compared to Wi-Fi 6), an improved microphone and better water resistance.

iPhone 16, 16 Plus Release Date and Price (Expected)

While we expect the smartphone to be announced on September 9, the pre-orders may begin on September 13. The release date may follow on September 20. The pricing may remain the same as the earlier models. This could mean the iPhone 16 may start from about Rs 80,000, and the iPhone 16 Plus may debut in the Rs 90,000 price bracket.
