Apple iPhone 16 Leaks: While the iPhone 16 series is months away from launch, the rumour mill is already getting excited at the leaks of the next-gen iPhones. The upcoming smartphones will likely pack incremental upgrades compared to the current generations, which comprise four models. Amid the ongoing rumour churning, a recent leak hints that the vanilla iPhone 16 could offer a vertical camera module.

In a recent post on X (formerly Twitter), user Majin Bu posted a photo of the outer metallic shell that will likely house the rear optics on the iPhone 16. The module could be similar to the iPhone X but with individual lens separation. The tipster has a mixed track record with leaks around upcoming iPhones.

Tech outlet MacRumors undertook the verification and reported that the part in question was of the I-34 camera project, which likely concerns the iPhone 16. The recent hints are in line with the recent leaks that concern the vertically aligned camera module in the past. For context, on the iPhone 15 and 15 Plus, the camera sensors are positioned diagonally on the back panel.

The change could be among the attempts to bring Spatial Video support to all next-gen models for enjoying them on the Vision Pro. Speaking of other updates around the iPhone 16, the model could offer an Action button similar to the iPhone 15 Pro models. The upcoming model could sport an A17 (or a slightly less powerful new A18) chip for performance.
