Following the massive success of its retail stores in India's National Capital, Delhi, and financial capital Mumbai, Apple is reportedly planning to open a few more stores in India. This will be part of the company's global expansion strategy, as it plans to establish a strong brand presence in emerging markets such as India.
According to Mark Gurman of Bloomberg, Apple will open one store each in Mumbai and Delhi. Furthermore, Apple intends to open the third official store in Mumbai's Borivali in 2025, followed by the fourth store in the DLF Promenade Mall in 2026. Gurman also mentioned that Apple may open India's second-largest store in DLF Promenade, which will be smaller than the BKC store in Mumbai.
By far, Apple has around 520 experienced stores spread across 26 countries that serve as the company's official partners in product launches, technical support, and even educational classes for customers.
Not only that, but Apple is also reportedly planning to collaborate with Tata Group to expand its manufacturing facility and operations in India in order to produce the iPhone 15 series and even export it to other nations.
Returning to retail, Apple stores in India are performing exceptionally well, according to the report, with each Apple Store selling Rs 50 crore per month, the most of any retail store. According to the reports, the Mumbai BKC store alone saw a billing of Rs 10 crore on the first day, which is more than any local store's revenue.
The data, however, make sense because the opening day drew a massive crowd of over 5,000 people, and a similar number of people also attended the inauguration of the Apple Store in Delhi's Saket.
However, the company is also paying a hefty rent for their Apple Stores in Mumbai's BKC and Delhi's Saket, which is said to be more than Rs 40 lakh per month.
