Apple announced the new iPhone 15 series last month. And it seems the company is preparing the next big thing behind closed doors. According to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, Apple has the resources to introduce its search engine to take on Google's monopoly. As per his Power On weekly, he said the Redmond-headquartered tech giant Microsoft even reached out to the iPhone maker to achieve this.
Gurman added that Apple has been working for many years to build its own search engine and integrate it as a preferred choice in Apple products. Search remains the most used feature on Apple handsets, tablets and PCs and Apple's track record of owning popular bits and polishing them in the 'Apple way' is known to everyone.

In the current system, Apple receives a share of ad revenue from the search giant, which brings around $8 billion in a year. With its own search, as per the Chief Correspondent, Apple could craft a revenue streamlet of the scope of Apple Watch considering the ads and search slots at the pegged price same as Google.

Whenever the search materialises, customers may get an integrated and private atmosphere when compared with the offering of the search leader. As per the report, the company has already built search engines for Maps, Apple Store, Apple TV and News.
He added that John Giannandrea who looks after the AI, ML and a team who is involved in the development of search, has prepared a next-gen search engine for Apple's proprietary apps, which is codenamed 'Pegasus'. The tech is anticipated to return more accurate results and is currently embedded in a few Apple apps and will likely arrive soon on the App Store.

One of the proofs of this technology in the works is Spotlight. It returns results after searching from the web and from connected Apple devices. These web answers were earlier powered by Google and Bing at several points. The team at Apple now plans to integrate it even further in iOS and macOS while sidelining them. Plus, the developments around the 'Applebot' web crawler and the recent openings in the ML team all hint in a similar direction. Gurman claims the launch "may be closer" than you may think.
