Apple Vision Pro: Apple had released its Vision Pro headset in February of 2024, and now we have reports that suggest that Apple might be working on new versions of its Vision Pro headset, with one of them being a more lighter version and pocket-friendly. This information is based on the details shared by Bloomberg's Mark Gurman in his latest newsletter Power On. This move might be due to Apple's shifting focus towards making its mixed reality tech widely available for a larger audience.
NEW: Apple is planning a lighter and cheaper Vision Pro, plus a new tethered version with zero latency for enterprise apps. It’s also working on Meta Ray Ban-like non-AR glasses as Tim Cook has prioritized true AR glasses. https://t.co/TMg2N9x6t8

This might just be the beginning to something much bigger, as Tim Cook has a long-term vision for some years now.“All of this is a stepping stone toward Cook’s grand vision, which hasn’t changed in a decade. He wants true augmented reality glasses — lightweight spectacles that a customer could wear all day. The AR element will overlay data and images onto real-world views,” Gurman stated.

This project looks like a top priority for Apple's CEO, “Cook has made this idea a top priority for the company and is hell-bent on creating an industry-leading product before Meta can. ‘Tim cares about nothing else,’ says someone with knowledge of the matter. ‘It’s the only thing he’s really spending his time on from a product development standpoint,’” Gurman stated further.
Another thing on the table on which Apple is said to be working is smart devices which will eventually pave the way for full-fledged AR glasses, something that is similar to Meta's Ray-Ban smart Glasses, which would allow users to listen to music, click pictures and talk with Meta's AI on the go. Meta is already looking at good results with its category of non-AR glasses- the ones that are specifically designed to take pictures and have AI integration, as they move towards AR spectacles. Likewise, Apple is seeking an interim solution" according to Gurman. The report also points towards Apple developing its own glasses which will sport a camera and microphone capabilities.
