Apple drew a lot of attention from around the world after announcing ChatGPT integration in iOS 18, and iPadOS 18 at WWDC 2024. The company announced that Siri will be integrated with ChatGPT to provide a variety of responses to users' queries based on the latest GPT-4o model. However, both Apple and OpenAI have been silent on the details of the partnership, but the most recent report suggests that Apple is not paying OpenAI for ChatGPT integration.

According to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, the partnership between the iPhone maker and OpenAI is about more than just generating revenue for both parties--at least at first. They are not paying each other for the partnership.

According to reports, the iPhone maker believes it is providing OpenAI and ChatGPT with equal or greater value than cash.

Apple has integrated ChatGPT, an AI chatbot which responds to queries and provides information. Not only that, it also helps the company with new Writing tools.

Furthermore, the report stated that Apple does not pay the ChatGPT maker as part of the partnership, and the terms of the agreement are kept private. Apple believes that deploying OpenAI's ChatGPT to millions of people via its devices is equal to or greater than monetary payments. Furthermore, the report stated that Apple's goal is to form partnerships with AI companies. In addition, the report states that Apple would receive a cut from AI partners who make money from chatbot results on Apple platforms.

ChatGPT integration is free and available in iOS 18, iPadOS 18, and macOS Sequoia. It will be available to users who voluntarily choose it. ChatGPT Plus subscribers will be able to sign in to their accounts and receive additional benefits. The AI chatbot is currently available for iOS users on the App Store. Notably, the company is paying a 15 to 30% discount on these subscriptions.
