Since debuting the Apple TV app and Apple TV+ service in 2019, Apple has steadily expanded its platform availability. The service started with iOS and Mac devices, as well as select Smart TVs and streaming devices. In 2021, Apple introduced support for Chromecast with Google TV, NVIDIA Shield, and various other Android TV models. The launch of the app on Android mobile devices marks a significant step forward and is expected to have a positive impact on Apple’s services revenue.

Android users can now download the Apple TV app directly from the Google Play Store. While the app currently holds a 1.9-star rating—due in large part to earlier complaints about the lack of mobile support—this new update is likely to address those issues and improve its rating over time.
