Apple's Vision Pro may have wowed tech fans worldwide, but it seems the company isn’t slowing down. According to Bloomberg, Apple is already hard at work on the next generation of its mixed-reality headset—and this time, it’s expected to pack some serious upgrades.
What's New?
The new model is said to be powered by Apple's faster M4 chip, a big leap from the first-gen's M2 processor. Significantly, the M4 is reported to have more than 16 neural engine cores, a move that aligns with Apple's larger foray into AI integration across its entire ecosystem.

Comfort is also a key area of focus. After user complaints about the current model’s weight—at 1.4 pounds, many have reported neck strain after extended use—Apple is said to be testing redesigned head straps. One of the alternatives to the existing Solo Knit Band reportedly improves comfort, especially when paired with third-party accessories.
A Quick Recap of the First-Gen Vision Pro
Apple introduced the original Vision Pro back in February 2023, launching it at a steep $3,499 price point. At the time, it featured the M2 chip, which has since fallen behind the curve with newer Apple silicon entering the scene.
What Else Is in the Works?
While this second-generation Vision Pro is expected to launch with the M4, some earlier reports have hinted at an even more powerful version powered by the M5 chip in the future. Well-known analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has also suggested that the next-gen model could arrive as soon as later this year.

For those hoping for a more wallet-friendly option, you'll need to hang tight. Reports suggest that a lighter, more affordable version of the Vision Pro could be in development, but it likely won’t land before 2027.
AR Glasses in the Pipeline?
Apple is also said to be exploring other wearable innovations, including AR glasses to compete with Meta’s offerings. However, those plans are still in early stages and haven’t been confirmed.
Bottom line? Apple is betting big on the future of spatial computing—and with AI at the centre of its strategy, the next Vision Pro could be a whole lot smarter and more comfortable than the first.
