Apple Watch Series 9, which was announced at the Wonderlust event, has been one of the major talking points because of the double tap gesture feature. But Apple said that the feature will be available for use in the coming months and the users will have to wait. In the latest update, the long-awaited double tap gesture on the new Apple Watch Series 9 is now available in the public beta version of the watchOS 10.1 software upgrade. Early adopters can now try it out via the public beta.
Users will be able to control the Apple Watch Series 9 with only one hand and without touching the display thanks to the double tap gesture, which will be part of a free software update coming out this month. By twice tapping their index finger and thumb together, users may conveniently do several popular tasks on the watch.
Double Tap Feature: Uses
This simple gesture may be used to snooze alarms, pause and resume music, stop timers, answer and end phone conversations, and even shoot pictures with the Apple Watch's Camera Remote. According to Apple, double tapping also enables access to the Smart Stack from the watch face, and a second double tap enables users to scroll between the widgets inside the stack.
Double Tap Feature: How It Works?
The quicker Neural Engine in the Apple Watch Series 9 uses a new machine learning algorithm to process data from the accelerometer, gyroscope, and optical heart sensor, enabling the double tap gesture. The index finger and thumb double tap is detected by this method as distinct wrist movements and differences in blood flow.
Users currently have access to watchOS 10, which provides a new visual language for apps so they can quickly display more information. To improve the user experience, it also adds a Smart Stack function for pertinent widgets and brings charming new watch faces.
