Foldable iPhone: Apple is reportedly ready to make its debut in the foldable phone market in 2026 with a device dubbed the iPhone Fold. While details have been all over the place, the latest chatter points to a 7.7-inch interior display, which seems to be the most consistent estimate so far.
This was recently confirmed by the trusted leaker Digital Chat Station, who posted on Weibo on July 25 that the iPhone Fold will feature a 7.7-inch unfolded screen along with a 5.49-inch cover display. “The screen size of the first foldable iPhone has been revealed,” DCS wrote, sharing the specific numbers: “5.5-inch outer screen + 7.7-inch inner screen.” They also mentioned that this prototype is slightly smaller than the one they saw back in February.

These dimensions line up closely with previous rumours, including those from Apple supply chain analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, who in March said the foldable would sport a 7.8-inch inner screen. Kuo also shared that the phone might be around 9 to 9.5 mm thick when folded, slimming to 4 to 4.5 mm when opened.
Despite being relatively thin, this thickness would still be more than Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 7, which measures 8.9 mm folded and 4.2 mm unfolded. If these figures hold, Apple’s foldable would have a smaller display compared to Samsung’s latest Fold (8 inches unfolded, 6.5 inches outside) and upcoming devices like Google’s Pixel 10 Pro Fold and Oppo’s Find N5.

But a smaller screen might not be a drawback—rumours suggest Apple is aiming for a 4:3 aspect ratio, similar to that of the iPad, which could make the foldable feel more natural for fans used to Apple’s tablets. Plus, Apple is reportedly working on iOS 27 for foldables, which will take cues from the latest iPadOS.
Apple is definitely behind other brands in foldable phones but reportedly waited patiently for a crease-free display technology, which may finally be possible thanks to their collaboration with Samsung Display.
