BGMI Ban News 2024: Krafton’s popular Battleground Mobile India battle royale game which made a grand comeback last year seems to be in trouble again. According to a news report by News 18 citing sources familiar with the matter, the Indian authorities are concerned that the data collected by the game could act as a threat to national security and lead to cyber-attacks.

The report further stated that a top official in the cybersecurity division of the Union government had revealed that the agency had suggested discontinuing the application. The report does not, however, provide a clear explanation for the recommendations; it did, nonetheless, emphasise certain aspects, such as the entry of Pakistani Seema Haider into the nation and others that suggested a possible spike in crime.

Furthermore, the report stated that the company has received the authorities' comprehensive questions and is awaiting a response. According to the report, a significant meeting is planned for next week. The business will make its case, and the authorities will consider it before deciding how to proceed with the game.

Do note that the government and Krafton have not made any official statement about the BGMI Ban in India.

BGMI is one of the game industry's most popular apps, with millions of downloads on both the Play Store and the App Store. According to afaqs, the game has over 40 million active users (based on the September 2023 report), indicating that it has quickly regained popularity due to its seamless gameplay.

In addition, the popularity of e-sports has revived because of the battle royale game, with several LAN events taking place across the country. The game is one of the most popular competitive games in India and some other parts of the world.
