JE Technology Desk: Microsoft has been in the news for acting fast to embed artificial intelligence into its products. In the latest set of these quick enhancements, Microsoft has announced that AI-powered Bing will now let users enter voice commands on their desktop for answers. For the unaware, voice input for chat is already available on Mobile. A user can use the feature by clicking on the new microphone icon in Bing Chat and entering their voice commands.
Voice Chat: Supported Languages
According to Microsoft Bing Blogs, supported languages to use the feature include English, German, Mandarin, French and Japanese. Moreover, the tech giant added that more languages are "on the way" and will debut soon.
A user can try asking the AI-powered Bing, "How much wood could a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood?"
AI-powered Bing Desktop Update: Bing Chat Can Speak Now
Other than voice inputs, Bing Chat now supports text-to-speech answers in its own voice. A user can ask questions to the chatbot, and it will respond in its own unique voice. In the demo shared by the company, the user asks the AI chatbot: Where is Microsoft Headquarter located? Bing Chat prepares a response to this question after interpreting the voice input given by the user.
On a related note, the company recently amped-up chat turn limits to 30 per session and 300 a day. While even strict guardrails were introduced at the time of launch after instances of Bing Chat delivering abrupt responses surfaced on social media, these instances have been curbed to a significant extent now. Moreover, the company also axed a waitlist to access new Bing recently.
Not just AI chat, to stay relevant in the charging dynamics of this emerging technology, Microsoft has integrated artificial intelligence across its product line at a rapid pace. Further, Google is steadily catching up with its chat model Bard and other AI enhancements in its workspace apps like Gmail, Docs and more.
