BSNL Mobile Recharge Plan: As part of its Independence Day celebration, BSNL has launched an ultra-cheap ₹1 prepaid plan, only for new customers. The plan is called the 'Freedom Offer' and has been launched to increase digital penetration in India; it is available till August 31.
For a mere ₹1, new BSNL customers are provided with a remarkable package of perks: unlimited voice calls, 2 GB of daily high-speed data, and 100 SMS a day—every one of them valid for 30 days. National roaming is also included, which makes this one of the most affordable means to become connected in India today.

To avail of this plan, subscribers are required to buy a fresh BSNL SIM card within the offer period. The Freedom Offer is available for clients in all telecom circles, based on the company's notice on X (formerly Twitter).
BSNL's ₹196 Yatra SIM Seeks to Keep Amarnath Pilgrims Connected
Besides the Freedom Offer, BSNL has also been catering to pilgrims availing of the Shri Amarnath Yatra 2025 with a specific Yatra SIM card, which costs ₹196. The SIM has a validity period of 15 days and features unlimited 4G data and voice calls, aimed at providing full connectivity during the pilgrimage journey.
The Yatra SIM can be collected from BSNL outlets at Lakhanpur, Pahalgam, Baltal, Chandrakot, and Bhagwati Nagar—the most important places where registration and the yatra generally start.
To purchase the SIM, customers need to do KYC authentication through an Aadhar card or a government-issued ID, together with a Shri Amarnath Yatra slip. After authentication, the 4G SIM will be activated instantly on the spot, giving instant access to connectivity essential for the journey.
