CES 2026 Samsung: Samsung has shown off a prototype second-gen foldable display at CES 2025, and it’s the big leap in folding screen tech everyone's waiting for. The new panel, as per reliable tipster Ice Universe, ditches the crease entirely and also features an under-display camera, meaning there is no visible cut-out at all in the front.

Its reaction to wide, seven-slide play is particularly interesting and the fact that it can be cross-over used. The leaker says this very screen could be supplied to Apple for the long-expected iPhone Fold, which could launch as soon as September. Meanwhile, Samsung is also expected to use this panel in its own upcoming foldable phones, pointing to an across-the-board leap forwards for the foldable scene.

Crease-Free Foldables: Why This Matters

The display crease has always been the largest compromise of foldables. Despite adjustments in the Galaxy Z Fold’s past few generations, the crease is still visible under certain lighting and at certain angles. A foldable screen without a visible crease would do much to close that gap, both aesthetically and in use simply day-to-day.

The inclusion of an under-display camera only strengthens this transition, eliminating the punch-holes or cutouts and allowing for a genuinely full-screen foldable experience.

Samsung: Galaxy Z TriFold – This Is What’s Next For Foldable Form Factor

In addition to the display without creases, Samsung has also demonstrated its Galaxy Z TriFold, which is one step further than typical foldables. As the product name implies, the thing wraps closed twice at bends and unfolds to three connected panels — when complete you get a roughly tablet-sized screen.

One thing was clear with CES 2025: Samsung is taking foldables to the next level. A crease-free screen and under-display camera tech address two of the most common complaints about foldable phones, while the TriFold concept imagines how Samsung sees foldables developing beyond bog-standard book-style designs.

If Apple does use Samsung’s new screen on the iPhone Fold, it would speed up foldable phones’ march into the mainstream. And if Samsung does get both the crease-free screen and tri-fold form factor into the mainstream, 2025 and 2026 could alter user expectations when it comes to flagship phones.
