ChatGPT, the internet's new sensation since its launch last year, could soon face serious competition from Google. We say this as a report from The Information hints that the search giant is working on its advanced AI models under the Gemini project. And they may launch this fall.
Citing the media outlet, Indian Express reported that the project will likely power Google's Bard chatbot and Workspace apps such as Google Slides, Sheets and Docs. The new project could be groundbreaking due to the reservoir of data the tech giant holds to train such models due to its wide footprint on the internet.
It may use its YouTube data bank, Google Books, search stats and Google Scholar for polishing these models. Gemini could have multi-modal model support to handle videos and images on similar lines as GPT-4.
These updates could mean the tech giant may announce a new chatbot or upgrade AI-powered Bard. According to the report, the model was teased at the tech giant's developer conference in July alongside other AI projects. It uses the training apparatus of Alphago, an AI system that outperformed human intelligence in Go, a complicated board game.

Gemini may be available to business users via Google's Cloud service. To recall, to supercharge its AI efforts, the tech giant merged its Google Brain (the tech giant's AI research wing) and DeepMind in April. DeepMind is also diverting resources towards Gemini. Reports have vouched for the capabilities of Gemini's multi-modal capabilities. Speaking of the current scenario, Bard is the latest rival to ChatGPT in the AI space.
As for some context, the OpenAI model has been in the news for its groundbreaking capabilities such as drafting conversational responses based on user input that range from articles to poems and more. The tech has also witnessed Microsoft's huge funds infusion in the AI research company. The Windows maker is also striving hard to add AI to its apps. A few examples include AI-Powered Bing and Windows Copilot.
