Dual Space apps for WhatsApp are set to become a thing of the past as the Meta-owned company is now testing the functionality to let users use multiple accounts on the app. Called 'multi-account', the option is now live for more beta users on Android from today with a new UI, reported WABetaInfo, a reliable source for WhatsApp-related news.

According to the report, the feature is rolling out for beta users on the app and will be available for more people in the coming weeks. Android version '2.23.18.21' of the app is reportedly compatible with the feature. Using the new option, the company allow users to use multiple accounts in one app without using a separate clone app for a second account.

An eligible tester can add a second account from the WhatsApp settings page. Another tweak in the settings is the new interface for a modern look while navigating through WhatsApp.

Mutli-account, once available to the public, may eliminate the need for a second app to use dual accounts on the app. A user can switch between accounts from the app and simplify the process of switching between apps for operating a second account. Conversations and notifications of these accounts would be kept separate.

The report added that users may be able to only add one additional account in the app. This threshold might get scaled up in the future. Beta testers can download the update from the Google Play Store.

In another set of updates, the company recently released a new WhatsApp app for Mac. Users can now make calls with up to eight people on video and audio calls with up to 32 members. The new app has been redesigned to match the overall design statement of apps on Mac. Users can now send files in chat using drag and drop in the app. You can read more on this here.
