Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg, who recently announced a slew of new features for the instant messaging platform WhatsApp globally has now introduced a dedicated WhatsApp application for Mac users. The new application is capable of making a group call which means users can make video calls with up to eight participants and audio calls with up to 32 participants.
Earlier this year, this feature was made available to Windows desktop users. Users of the new WhatsApp for Mac app can start and join group calls, view call logs, and even get notified of incoming calls when the app is closed.

The application has been updated to give Mac users a comfortable experience while optimising WhatsApp's use on larger screens. Drag-and-drop file sharing is made simple, and a more thorough chat history view is offered.
Notably, when using WhatsApp on any platform, end-to-end encryption ensures the security of private messages and calls across devices. The new Mac app can be downloaded right now from WhatsApp.com, and it will soon also be available through the App Store.
In addition, Zuckerberg recently revealed a new update for WhatsApp. Now, users can create groups without giving them a name. Unnamed groups will have a maximum of 6 participants, and names will be generated based on the group's members. The upcoming weeks are anticipated to see the release of this feature.
This announcement was shared by Zuckerberg, who added, "You're welcome to embed his post within your piece." This change will make it easier to form groups quickly or when a specific group topic is not immediately obvious.
Meanwhile, the company has previously introduced a capability to roll out a new feature using which the users can now share HD videos with other users with quality of up to 720p. However, the HD quality has not been set as default and users will have to manually select it.
