Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced a significant update to WhatsApp, which allows screen sharing during video calls. With this move, the platform aims to enhance the user experience and become a one-stop solution for every user who is currently using Google Meet, Zoom or other video calling platforms.

WhatsApp users can easily initiate screen sharing during video calls by clicking on the newly introduced 'Share' icon. This feature allows users to share either a specific application or their entire screen, making it versatile for a variety of use cases.

The company's blog post highlighted the feature's potential for work-related tasks, family interactions, travel planning, online shopping with friends, and even offering technical assistance to grandparents.

Additionally, Landscape mode, which provides a wider and more immersive viewing and sharing experience on smartphones, is also available for WhatsApp users to use during video calls. Users who prefer a larger visual experience during video conversations should benefit from this new feature.

Users can expect a steady stream of improvements thanks to the timeline for these updates, which is set for the upcoming weeks. WhatsApp already offered the ability to silence incoming calls on iOS and landscape mode support for video calls last month, both of which are received by the users.

Meanwhile, the company is also rolling out new enhanced editing capabilities for media with captions on iOS devices. This new functionality allows users to edit captions for media files shared within chats, adding to the versatility and convenience of communication on the platform.
