Twitter, a microblogging network, has made news yet again after Elon Musk relaunched it as X. The famous blue bird has now been officially replaced by X on the logo, profile photo, and even the headquarters. It was previously reported that Twitter's parent company name is X Corporation, which is why the firm has been rebranded to X.

In a new update, billionaire and Twitter owner Elon Musk revealed the reasons for Twitter's rebranding to X. Elon Musk explained in a tweet that Twitter was acquired by X corporation for the purpose of free speech and that the new application X will be an all-purpose app.

“Twitter was acquired by X Corp both to ensure freedom of speech and as an accelerant for X, the everything app. This is not simply a company renaming itself, but doing the same thing,” he said in his tweet.

He also stated that the term Twitter was justified until tweets were confined to 140 characters, but that the platform is now capable of a wide range of functions. Users can now submit long-form movies, tweet long-form content, modify tweets, and do other things that set it apart from the previous platform.

“The Twitter name made sense when it was just 140-character messages going back and forth – like birds tweeting – but now you can post almost anything, including several hours of video,” he added.

He also stated that the new microblogging network would be more powerful with more comprehensive communications, as well as the capacity to run your entire financial world, so the term Twitter does not fit the context, which is why Musk has let go of the iconic blue bird and let it fly away.

“In the months to come, we will add comprehensive communications and the ability to conduct your entire financial world. The Twitter name does not make sense in that context, so we must bid adieu to the bird,” he added.
