Chinese smartphone maker Vivo has confirmed that the company will launch the new Funtouch OS 14 in the country on October 7. The Funtouch OS account on X (formerly called Twitter) shared the information. For the unversed, Vivo announced its Android 14 Preview Program for Vivo X90 Pro users in India last month.

While the company has not revealed any major details, users can anticipate changes in the UI design, optimisations in the battery, new features and more. The company is yet to unveil the list of eligible devices. Reports claim the OS will also be available for iQOO devices on the same date.

In an X post, the company promises "smoothness" with the upcoming OS. "Smooth, every time. Embrace the smoothness and ease of #FuntouchOS14. Coming soon at 12:00 on October 7th," @FuntouchOS_IN posted.

Answering a request of a user who wished for the new OS on Vivo Y31, the account added: "We would like to inform you that for the upcoming Funtouch OS version, you will get the notification in your handset." Users can download the new update package from the settings.

Vivo will join other smartphone manufacturers (such as Samsung and OnePlus) who are already testing the new OS. OnePlus, the close cousin of Vivo, rolled out its Android 14-based OxygenOS 14 a few days back, which will roll out to the latest OnePlus flagships in the subsequent days.

On a related note, Android developer Google will reportedly announce a new Android 14 OS at its 'Made By Google' event today. The new OS will offer several AI-based enhancements across the UI. The company's new Pixel smartphones will likely run on Android 14-based OS out of the box.
