YouTube, a popular video streaming app, has a number of creator-centric features that aim to upscale the reach of videos. One of the methods that is most common in content these days is the call to action by creators to subscribe to their channels. In an attempt to add zing to this appeal, YouTube is testing an option that lets the "Subscribe" button glow when the host is making the request in the video.

According to a 9To5Google report, the feature is available on some videos on the platform. The functionality works whenever the word "subscribe" is said in the video. The news outlet speculates it is an automated feature from the experiences of several users who reportedly witnessed them.

The animation adds noticeable colours to the otherwise flat button that stays for a few seconds. This subtle effect attracts focus when it is in action. While creators use all sorts of jazzy ways to make the request attractive, this minor addition can make the viewing and the request to subscribe even more interesting.

The platform further speculates that the option is currently working only on desktops. It has not appeared on smartphones or the TV app of YouTube. It seems the glowing subscribe button is undergoing restricted testing. We tried on multiple desktops when the host uttered the word 'subscribe' in the video, but could not trace the new feature in action.

According to the report, another user on Reddit claimed they saw something similar with the 'like' button. The user added that this option does not work on videos played in incognito mode and it only works on videos suggested by the platform in the feed.

On a related note, the company is also testing an option to trace a precise song on YouTube by humming. You can read more on this here.
