YouTube, a video-sharing network owned by Google, is currently developing a new feature that will allow Android users to search for songs on the platform by humming or recording a section of the song. The news was announced on Tuesday via the 'YouTube test features and experiments' page. This new song search function is intended to improve user experience and ease the process of discovering music material on the site.
How Will The New Song Search Feature Works?
Testers have the option to use the song search tool instead of the standard YouTube voice search. The system will recognise the music if you hum it or record a portion of it that lasts longer than three seconds. The YouTube app would then show users a variety of items connected to the song they were searching for. These materials include the song's official music videos, user-generated videos, and short films.

When Will The Feature Roll Out?
The testing stage is only presently available to a small portion of Android users globally. The company has not announced any particular timeline for the feature rollout for the users globally.
Meanwhile, YouTube is also testing out an additional feature that is meant to improve the user experience for both creators and viewers. The idea of grouping several uploads from a single content provider in a short period of time into a designated segment inside the Subscriptions feed is being tested by the platform.
This strategy aims to lessen the demand for content producers to publish content frequently throughout the day. Additionally, it tries to make it easier for viewers to find the precise content they are looking for. Users will be able to interact with the content on the combined shelf while easily switching to other videos in their feed thanks to this functionality.
Previously, YouTube announced that it is testing artificial intelligence (AI) auto-generated summaries for videos, which will allow users to provide a gist of videos to the users and let them decide if watching the video is worth their time or not.
