Google announced the availability of Gemini Pro-charged Bard globally with image generation capabilities recently. And now, the search giant has renamed the AI model to 'Gemini'. "Bard will now simply be known as Gemini," the company noted. For the unaware, the tech giant introduced Gemini as its 'most capable' AI model in December 2023.

Since its launch, Gemini's Pro 1.0 iteration is already available in more than 40 languages and 230+ countries and territories. In the latest move, the company also announced Gemini Advanced and a Gemini smartphone app for Android users in the US.

Google also announced a mobile app to let users access Gemini, the multimodal conversational model, on their handsets in the United States. Users can download the app on Android or use the experience in the Google app on iOS.

"With Gemini on your phone, you can type, talk or add an image for all kinds of help while you're on the go: You can take a picture of your flat tyre and ask for instructions, generate a custom image for your dinner party invitation or ask for help writing a difficult text message," Google said.

Gemini is a "new kind of assistant" with generative AI capabilities. You can download the Gemini app or "opt in" via Google Assistant to start using it. Users can open the Gemini via the power button or corner swiping or saying 'Hey Google'. "This will enable a new overlay experience that offers easy access to Gemini as well as contextual help right on your screen," Google said.

Features such as setting timers, dialling calls, and controlling smart home devices will be available via Gemini. For iOS, the experience will be available within the Google app in the coming weeks. Once rolled out, users can tap the Gemini toggle and chat, create images and more. Gemini experience is rolling out to users on Android and iOS users in the English language in the US. More countries and languages will be added soon.
