Bard is Google's AI chatbot to take on rivals such as OpenAI's ChatGPT and Microsoft Copilot. In a massive overhaul, the company may now rename the model to 'Gemini' and introduce an app for Android users besides other enhancements. Recently, the company upgraded Bard's underlying tech to its most capable Gemini model apart from introducing image generation capabilities. However, the upcoming change may be even more significant as a complete rebranding may be in the works.

An early changelog (dated February 7) spotted by Dylan Roussel claims that the change may be officially announced a few days from now. "Bard is now Gemini," the changelog posted on X (formerly Twitter) stated. But Google noted that: "all the collaborative capabilities you know and love are still here, and will keep getting better in the Gemini era".

"We've also evolved the Ul to reduce visual distractions, improve legibility, and simplify the navigation," the post added. The changelog also included details for 'Gemini Advanced', which will allow access to the company's most capable AI model - Ultra 1.0. The model will be far more capable at complex tasks such as "coding, logical reasoning, following nuanced instructions, and creative collaboration." Gemini Advanced may continue to expand with better coding, analysis and multi-modal capabilities.

As per the changelog, Gemini Advanced will likely be available via a paid plan across 150 countries and territories. While Ultra 1.0 will likely be optimised for English, it could offer more language support. Google may also introduce a Gemini app. "Gemini is integrated with Google apps like Gmail, Maps, and YouTube, making it easy to get things done on your phone. You can interact with it through text, voice or images," the screengrab of the changelog stated.

The Gemini app will likely be available on the Google Play Store and may be accessible from the Google app on iOS. It could launch for select handsets in the US in the English language. More regions and languages could be added in the future.
