Google Chrome New Features: iOS

Maps: Users can now press and hold an address (which Chrome will detect using AI) to view that location in a mini Google Maps view without switching apps. It will reduce the effort of manually entering the address in the app's search box to locate coordinates.

Calendar: iPhone and iPad users can create events straight from Google Chrome, eliminating the need to copy and paste information manually in a separate app. Users can press and hold the date they wish to select and add to the calendar event.

Translations: With improvements in AI, users will benefit from improved translations on the web. Chrome will offer an option to auto-translate pages in the preferred language. Moreover, users can select a particular part of the text on the webpage to translate into a different language within Chrome.

Lens: While Google Lens functionality is deeply embedded in Chrome, in the coming months, users will be able to search the web with captured images or photos from the device library.

Google Chrome Update: ChromeOS

Image Descriptions Uprgades: The 2019 feature that extracts image descriptions for users from unlabeled images will expand to make room for extra features. "We're adding the ability to convert images to text for PDFs in Chrome browser on ChromeOS," Google said in a blog post.

This implies that for PDFs that lack alt text, the screen reader will convert the image to text and read it. It will be available on ChromeOS as of now. Further, the company highlighted in the blog that 'reading mode' will be available on "all computers."
