Next month Google will be integrating its Gemini AI with its Home devices. It was confirmed by Google on Tuesday. The Gemini AI(Artificial Intelligence) will be available on the company’s smart speaker, displays, and other devices. It was announced in Google's I/O 2025 and the company will be rolling out the Gemini AI integration for early access to users next month. As per Google it will allow users to give commands in the natural language to multiple devices at the same time.

Google Home users get Early Access to Gemini AI

Google Home devices will start receiving the Gemini AI access starting 1 October as it was announced with a post on X(formerly known as Twitter). Users can also sign up to receive the update once their devices get Gemini for Google Home access. Currently Google’s plan is to offer both, Gemini and Google assistant side-by-side, however, they plan to replace Google Assistant with Gemini in the long run.

Google Home Devices to get Gemini AI

Google confirmed the features of the Gemini in Google Home back in August. Moreover, at that time, Google confirmed that their chatbot can understand complex and vague commands as well by using the advanced reasoning models and search capabilities. This will make it easier for users to communicate with Gemini in a natural language and the understanding of Gemini will not be limited to the rigid command system like it is currently.

Natural Language with Google Home Devices

This integration will allow users to give vague requests to the AI chatbot  and even play music with vague requests. As an example, you can simply ask– “play the song of the year winner from the early 2000s” or “play that song from this year's summer blockbuster about race cars”. And it will also be able to understand the complex commands with restrictions in it, for example: “turn off the lights everywhere except my kitchen.”

You can use natural speech to add things to your calendar or make lists and timers. For example, you can just say, “set a timer for perfectly blanched broccoli.” Gemini can search online to figure out how long you need to blanch broccoli and set the timer for you.

Google is updating Google Home devices with Gemini Live features. Now, you can start a conversation with the chatbot by saying “Hey Google, let's chat.” You don’t have to use “Hey Google” each time you speak. You can talk with the AI about many things, even things that are happening right now.

The company also said Gemini for Home comes in free and paid versions, but it didn’t mention how their features would differ.
