We all are well-versed with Google's Discover Feed, the space which captures news headlines, weather updates, live sports scores and more. While the feature has been available on mobile phones for a while now, the tech giant is experimenting with an expansion on desktops on its homepage along with the typical search box.

Spotted by MSPowerUser, the feed is visible below the search panel in the screenshot. Aided by Web and App Activity, the feed displays content based on a user's interest. According to the report, the feature is undergoing testing for select users on PCs.

However, the introduction of feed is expected to spark varying reactions from users. A bloc of users who prefer a minimal and clean UI would consider switching it off. A second group might welcome the move who catch news and other updates straight from this page. A reader must note that in the testing scheme, there are no means to disable this feed on PCs at the moment, the report added.

Lara Levin, a Google spokesperson, confirmed the testing of the Discover Feed to The Verge in a statement. Levin said that the experiment is currently live in India. A reader must note this is not the first series of experiments by the search giant. 9To5Google, in 2022, spotted a widget-like interface on the homepage with details on weather, news and stocks. However, the rollout remains a mystery to date.

On a related note, Bing also has a feed like Google Discover called Microsoft Start on Edge and Chrome browsers. You can also access it on mobile platforms, including Android and iOS, and via the News and Interest on Windows taskbar. Users can customise the view of this feed based on their liking, which includes the option to disable the feature.
