Search leader Google has been investing heavily in AI and its conversational chat model - Gemini. In the latest set of enhancements, the company is allowing users to double-check information returned by Gemini and verify the claims using Google Search. According to Gemini Apps Help, users can click the 'Google' button to explore information that may be similar or different from what Gemini said in its responses.
While it can work with a range of languages, the feature does not work with extensions and may skip certain parts like "code and markdown tables". To check any output returned by Gemini, you can click the Double-check response icon (or the colourful 'G' icon). Now check the results based on the highlighted information. The results may be marked in three colours.
A Green indicator will mean Google Search has content similar to what Gemini claims in the response. A link to the information will be available to substantiate the claim. However, this may not be similar to what the AI model may have used to frame the output. An Orange highlight may appear if the content on Google Search is different from what Gemini returned or if any relevant information is not found. In a few cases, a link may be provided.
If no highlight is present, this indicates that substantial information is not available to assess the statements returned by Gemini or "they aren't intended to convey factual information". Depending on the highlight, users can click a statement to learn more. The feature is available on mobile and desktops.

Users can check the sources provided by Google Search to verify whether the content provided by Gemini is correct or not. According to The Indian Express, the feature is available in the free version on Android and desktop. However, the option is unavailable across Workspace apps like Gmail and Docs where a paid subscription is required to access Gemini.
