Google, which has been rolling out a slew of new security features for users around the world, has announced a new feature for its Docs service. The California-based technology company has introduced a new eSignature feature that is now available as an open beta on Google Docs and Drive. The new feature will allow users to digitally sign the documents and letters eliminating the need of printing and scan the document.
Google started alpha testing the capability to request and capture eSignatures in Google Docs in June of last year. For users of Google Workspace Individual, eSignature is currently accessible in open beta. Over the next several weeks, the business will accept beta applications from Workspace customers and permit listing customers.
Based on the feedback we received, we are prepared to forward this functionality, the business said in a Workspace Updates blog post on Wednesday.

The business added that it will support the new eSignature features -- Audit trail, Multi-signer, Non-Gmail users, and Initiating eSignature on PDF -- later this year. The internet giant has begun to introduce a new linkable headlines feature in Google Docs last week.
Open a Google Doc in the web browser to utilise the feature. Add a heading (enter some text and set the style to "Heading, right-click it, select "Copy heading link," and then paste the content.
Previously, companies like Adobe have already been offering such a feature and the Google services users were requesting the feature. Further, the blog post also mentioned that the tech giant will be adding a status check bar for the eSignatures so that the users can keep track of documents which are signed.
However, the feature will currently be limited to Gmail users and the other platform users will get the feature later this year. Since Google Workspace is a paid service, it is still unclear whether free Gmail users will get the feature or not.
