Google Pixel 8, 8 Pro Leaks: As Google gears up to launch the Google Pixel 8 series next month, a wide range of rumours have leaked almost everything about the smartphone. In a fresh set of leaks, the price of the devices has leaked online. And the leaks might disappoint some.
According to a report from 9To5Google, the search giant could be planning to raise the prices of the Pixel 7 series successors in the United States. Citing a retail source, the news outlet claimed the Pixel 8 could start from $699 (around Rs 58,100). The bigger sibling (Pixel 8 Pro) may have a starting price tag of $999 (around Rs 83,000). This would imply a $100 (approx. Rs 8,300) price hike. Do note the prices are currency-converted and not anticipated figures in India.
These smartphones will likely be available via offline retail channels on October 12. The price rise was earlier anticipated in a previous European price leak. A reader must note the company also hiked the prices of the Pixel 7a by $50 compared to its predecessor. The raise was justified by reports at that time due to the substantial upgrades in optics, a higher refresh rate display and wireless charging support.

However, compared to its closest competition, the Samsung Galaxy S23 series, the relatively lower prices could be a result of the company's in-house Tensor chip. As for the launch date, the phones are set to debut in India on October 4 and will be available on Flipkart for pre-order on the same day.
Coming to the leaks, the Pixel 8 series could come with a Tensor G3 chipset for performance. The company is betting on AI as evident from the leaked promo video. As for the optics, the Pixel 8 could have a 50MP rear and 12MP ultrawide lens. The Pro model could have a 50MP primary, 64MP ultrawide lens and a 48MP telephoto lens.
