Pixel 8a vs 7a: Search giant Google has announced the pre-orders of the Google Pixel 8a ahead of Google I/O 2024. The handset is the successor to the Pixel 7a, which launched last year at the Google I/O 2023. The IP67-rated devices ship with varying differences, with the prominent ones being Google AI capabilities.

The new handset sits in the sub-Rs 55,000 price bracket, a significant price jump from its predecessor. So, what are the upgrades? Here are the top five parameters of both phones compared to gauge the differences.

Google Pixel 8a vs Pixel 7a: Specifications

Display: The Pixel 8a has a 6.1-inch Actua OLED 120Hz display with 2,000nits peak brightness. On the other hand, the Pixel 7a has a 6.1-inch FHD+ OLED screen with a 90Hz refresh rate.

Performance: Like the Pixel 8 series, the latest Pixel gets the Tensor G3 processor. On the other hand, the Pixel 7a sports a Tensor G2 chip. Both offer Titan M2 security chip and a fingerprint scanner.

Software: While the Pixel 7a shipped with Android 13, it is eligible to receive Android 14. Google Pixel 8a runs on the latest Android 14 out-of-the-box and will receive seven years of updates (OS, security and Feature Drop updates). The new handset will also ship with Gemini AI and features like Best Take, Audio Magic Eraser, Magic Editor and Ultra HDR in the camera.

Battery: Google Pixel 8a gets a 4,492mAh battery with 18W wired and Qi wireless charging, compared to the Pixel 7a's 4,385mAh battery with 18W wired charging and wireless charging.

Camera: Similar to the Pixel 7a, the Google Pixel 8a has a 64MP primary and 18MP ultrawide cameras on the rear. On the front, both handsets sport a 13MP selfie shooter.

Pixel 8a Price vs Pixel 7a Price

The Pixel 8a is available for Rs 52,999 (128GB) and Rs 59,999 (8GB + 256GB). It comes in Aloe, Bay, Obsidian and Porcelain. Buyers who pre-order the device can purchase a Pixel Buds A for Rs 999 on Flipkart. On the other hand, Pixel 7a is available for Rs 39,999 (8GB + 128GB) at the time of filing. It is available in Charcoal, Coral, Sea and Snow colours.
