Rockstar Games has delayed the release of Grand Theft Auto VI again, and people are not taking it well. Memes, jokes, and frustration galore filled social media following Tuesday's official announcement about the revised launch date, with some fans even joking online they'll be old by the time this game finally sees release.

This is the second delay of the highly-anticipated title, which was originally meant to launch in autumn 2025 before shifting to May 2026.

Fans react with memes and sarcasm

Social media quickly turned into a venting ground for disappointed players. One user wrote, “We are never getting GTA 6.” Another chimed in with a mix of humour and criticism: “Thank you for teaching us about the importance of patience and self-discipline, @RockstarGames. Young people are too focused on instant self-gratification these days. I humbly request that you extend the GTAVI deadline back to 2028 to help us combat this.”

 

The new release date

Rockstar confirmed the news on X, saying, “Hi everyone, Grand Theft Auto VI will now release on Thursday, November 19, 2026. We are sorry for adding additional time to what we realise has been a long wait, but these extra months will allow us to finish the game with the level of polish you have come to expect and deserve.”

In a follow-up post, the developer added, “We want to thank you again for your patience and support. While the wait is a little longer, we are incredibly excited for players to experience the sprawling state of Leonida and a return to modern-day Vice City.”

Searches for GTA 6 spike across Google.

News of the delay caused GTA 6 to trend globally on Google, particularly in the US and India. In India, most searches came from Goa, followed by Chandigarh, Punjab, Delhi, and Haryana. Top queries included “GTA 6 delayed”, “GTA 6 delayed again”, and “GTA 6 stock price”. Others were looking up “GTA 6 wallpaper” or checking how to pre-order the game.

Despite the backlash, anticipation for Grand Theft Auto VI remains sky-high. The action-adventure sequel, set in the fictional Vice City within the state of Leonida, has been one of the most awaited titles in gaming history—and now, players will have to wait a little longer to finally explore it.
