GTA 6 is one of the most anticipated games of the year, and as each day passes, there are leaks and news spreading all over the internet about the game’s trailer 2. Now, Take-Two has taken down a GTA 5 Mod that included the GTA 6 Map. The Creator of the mod believes that it was taken down because it was probably too accurate, and that it could have ruined the surprise for the fans.
Dark Space is the modder who created a playable recreation of the Grand Theft Auto 6 map in Grand Theft Auto 5. In this article, we will explain the entire scenario and what happened.
GTA 6 Map in GTA 5 Mod
Dark Space created a free-to-play mod in GTA 5 that included a GTA 6 map. He analysed all the leaks and available information on the internet and compiled that data with the official trailer shots and uploaded the gameplay footage on his YouTube channel. His mod made it to the headlines in January as the fans were craving GTA 6 and speculating what GTA 6 offers to them when it officially launches on PS5 and Xbox.
Take-Two’s Action On Dark Space for GTA 6 Map mod in GTA 5
Last week, Dark Space received the strike notification from YouTube after Take-Two issued a copyright removal request. This risked his channel as it could be terminated if the channel receives multiple copyright strikes. Then Dark Space removed all the download links to his mod, despite not yet being asked by Take-Two to do so. He also published a response video on his YouTube channel telling about the strike and suggesting that it was because of the mod map of GTA 6, calling his mod “probably a little too accurate”.
Dark Space Perspective on Take-Two’s Takedown
In the interview with IGN, Dark Space said that he expected this to happen based on their previous takedowns. Still, he continued with his project, knowing the outcomes, so he was not surprised by this. He believes that Take-Two went after his mod because it was based on an online GTA 6 community mapping project that uses leaked coordinate points to “perfectly” map out the upcoming virtual space. As a result, it might have ruined the surprise for players and the internet at large.
He continued, stating that “I think my map could have ruined the surprise of their map, which I get. If you spent years building out this amazing game world just to have some YouTuber spoil the experience of the map's shape, size, and vibe… I'd want it removed, too.”
Moreover, he added, “I'm just going to keep making videos that people hopefully like. I probably won't do anything else modding GTA 5 in relation to GTA 6, since it seems dangerous.”
